As device manufacturers move to ever more complex circuitry with higher lead counts
and finer lead pitches, the risk of damage increases. This damage is reflected in the
form of bent leads, and coplanarity problems as well as stand-off issues.

To ensure that the parts are mechanically fit before they are taped or mounted on
PCBs, Rood Technology offers fully automatic lead inspection services using equipment
from ICOS, RVSI, Systemation and Texas Instruments.

The cost to production of damaged leads can be extremely high in both term of finance
and availability. Rood Technology uses its own self designed and produced equipment
as well as machines from other manufacturers to repair damaged leads.

For high density, fine pitch devices e.g. gullwing 2- and 4-sided, J-lead 2- and 4-sided
devices, Rood Technology's LeadStar is used. This system corrects coplanarity,
stand-off, bent leads, pitch and sweep in a single correction station for packages with
pitches as low as 0,4 mm. Based on the design of the conditioning equipment damage
of leads is optimal avoided. These service offers a cost effective solution to reduce
the quantity of devices with damaged leads.
